In fall 2015, I started a sole proprietorship, a very small publishing company called Lighted Lake Press. Eventually, I hope it will be large and successful enough to have its own website. However, since I already have a full-time job, and I need to focus on my writing if I’m to publish more than my poetry collection, it will be a little while before I can give my small press as much attention as I’d like to.
That said, one reason I started an actual company, and gave it a name besides just my name, is that I’d like to publish work by other authors as well as my own, if and when that opportunity arises. I know there are good writers all over who, for various reasons, haven’t been able to get their work published and in front of readers. There are only a handful of super-successful and well-known self-published authors, but there are a good number more who, though they aren’t widely known, have found many devoted fans and are making good money. I’d love to be closer to that goal in the next couple of years, and if I can help one or two or a few more good writers to find an audience, that would be amazing.
If you have any questions related to the company, please email lightedlakepress (at) gmail (dot) com. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can, but remember, it’s likely to be a very small press for a while still!
